The Four Firkins

Just FYI...we're currently performing numerous time consuming DIY house projects...so there's not much time for shenanigans.

But we took a quick break (on our way to Home Depot in Woodbury) and stopped at the Four Firkins beer store.  What drew me in was that they offer free samples every Friday and Saturday evening.  It's a legit beer tasting - the resident cicerone provides samples for 6-8 beers as well as detailed description of each beer.  My favorites were the Indeed sweet yamma jamma which is a beer brewed with sweet potatoes.  It reignited my passion for squash.  We also liked the Southern Tier Chokolat.  Dessert in a cup right there!  It was really fun to try some beers we haven't had before.  We wandered around the store and admired the selection of more obscure beers and ciders.  Then they told us about their membership program - you sign up for free and get 3% off each purchase and they'll notify you about the special events and tastings that they do.  Let's face it, the beer scene is in NE and St. Paul.  This is Woodbury/Oakdale's little claim to fame I guess...
