331 Club and Northeast Social Restaurant

Northeast Minneapolis must party hard on the weekend and use Monday as hangover day.   My husband, sister, brother-in-law and I went for a nice walk in NE yesterday and were befuddled when our destinations were closed.  Panic ensued when I actually thought Anchor Fish & Chips had gone out of business or ditched the brick-and-mortar restaurant for the nomadic food truck life.  I guess if you are going to boycott a certain day of the week, Mondays make the most sense.  We were an hour and a half early for our reservation at Northeast Social so we went for a walk in search of a happy hour location.  We walked by Dangerous Man and then Anchor Fish & Chips but they were closed.  :( I guess these are the only two places I remember that were actually closed, but since they were the two places that we planned on going to, it felt like everywhere was closed.

331 Club
We ended up at 331 Club just down the block from NE Social.  That actually worked out perfectly.  Even though happy hour had ended by the time we got there, they had other amazing specials.  They had 2 for $5 gin and tonics or vodka tonics.  Fabulous, exactly what I wanted to sip on as we hung out on the patio on a beautiful evening.  They have amazing deals every day and excellent prices on food as well.  We'll definitely be back.

Northeast Social
We had dinner at NE Social which was fantastic. We all kind of shared the food so we could try everything.   The bacon guyere beignets were good but quite small.  It's an appetizer and you get four little beignets.  We also ordered house-made sausage which was delish, but doesn't hold a candle to Butcher & the Boar.  The mussels in curry broth were truly amazing, though.  The  chicken, asparagus, mushroom over pasta was good.  I think the stand out for the night was the burger.  It stood proud of the plate about 5 or 6 inches.  Part of the reason was the 1/2 inch thick slab of bacon that was placed on top of the burger patty.  I've never seen such thick bacon!!!!  All the flavors of the burger really melded together in a lovely way.  We also got dessert.  The coconut tres leche cake was fantastic.  Especially when paired with a chocolate port.  My sister ordered the flourless chocolate cake which was good.  I would definitely go back to NE Social.  Apparently we know which two spots we'll hit on a Monday night now!

The giant bacon is right under the pickles and on top of the melted cheese on the burger in this picture.
